1.d4 d5 2.c4 e6 3.Nc3 Nf6 4.Nf3 c6 I was eager to play 4...c5! but instead decided to play solidly and not commit myself to a tactical struggle in the early opening stage. Actually, more aggressive play in the center was logical. In this case the open h-file is not so important. 5.Qd3!? 5.Bg5 Nbd7 6.e3 Qa5 was the line I was expecting. 5...Nbd7 6.cxd5 exd5 7.Bf4 Be7 8.0–0–0 g6 9.e3

a5? 9...Nb6! 10.Ne5 Bf5 11.Qe2 Ne4 with a clear advantage 10.Qc2!  Now I realized that after 10...a4 White has 11.Nb5! 10...Nf8 11.Bd3 Be6 12.Kb1 a4? I could not stop... 12...b5 13.Ne5 Rc8÷ 13.Nxa4 Qa5 14.b3 Bg4 15.Nc5 Qa7?! 15...N6d7!? 16.Nxb7 Qa3 17.Rd2 Bxf3 18.gxf3 Qb4 19.Nc5 Nxc5 20.dxc5 Nd7 16.Rdg1!!

16...Ne6? Just another mistake. Why not 16...Bxf3 17.gxf3 N6d7 18.Nxd7 Nxd7 and Black is doing fine 17.Nxe6 Bxe6 18.Be5 h6 19.Ng5 Kd7 Desperate play in time trouble. Better was 19...Bc8, but I do not trust this. 20.Nxe6 Kxe6 21.g4 With the idea Bf5 mate. 21...Bd6 22.f4 Ke7? The last mistake.  Better was 22...Bxe5 23.fxe5 Nd7 but White has a huge positional advantage. 23.Bxf6+ Kxf6 24.Rxh6! Kg7 25.g5 Rxh6 26.gxh6+ Kh8 27.Bxg6 Black resigned 1:0
